Some people on here really have no clue what they're talking about. Saying ryan McGowan is past it at 27 and goncalves is a st mirren reject when actually he was on loan at them and they couldn't afford to keep him. And how is paterson worth a lot more than Berra? When he's out of contract in the summer and doesn't want to sign a new one. Berra would be an excellent signing been one of the best defenders in the championship for the last few years and one bad cup game doesn't change that.

well this site is for opinions and we're allowed to say what we think. i don't want mcgowan or berra back as i feel that would be going backwards, don't you think were being played, bringing them 2 back would only to try and keep the fans happy for a short time.
mr levein is picking these players not the manager maybe he's picked goncalves maybe martin, really think if the 2 players that you obviously like were great players they wouldn't be coming back to scotland they would be in better teams down south.
the thing that annoys me is the way we keep getting told about the way the club is going to be run, we get players in to make them better then sell them on well berra if he comes back he said he's doing it for his family to be brought up here well he won't be getting sold down south again and i'd have thought by now that if english clubs fancied gowser he would have been down there by now.
and i think patterson will prove to be £5m plus player if he goes down south you just have to watch how the market is in england for attacking defenders, if your 2 players sign again and do a good job ill be man enough to come on here and say i was wrong but if they play the way i think they will, will you come on and say you were wrong, i only want the best for our club but think were being mugged let's see how the next month goes and see how people will be on here wanting heads to roll.

We've known from day one it's Leveins job to sign the players, that's what a director of football does. But it's not totally upto him other people will have an imput as well as you can see with goncalves and Hughes. With berra wanting to come back for family reason it's possible he has instructed his agent to find out if a return to hearts is possible.
Transfers are not always a straightforward levein wants him cathro wants him situation. But just because someone used to play for St mirren or hamilton (sowah) doesn't mean they're a bad player or not good enough for hearts. That's what bother me not knowing anything about these players and only judging them on the fact they once played for these teams.
As for paterson, I agree he will go on to be a 5 million player. But he will never be hearts 5 million player unless he signs a new 3 year deal which as of now he's not willing to do. So a swap with berra is a very good deal for hearts. Cause in no way he is a step back. Yes he once played for us bit we sold him because we couldn't keep hold of him not because he wasn't good enough. In no other situation could we afford one of the best defenders in the English championship for the past few years.

Some people seem to think they know every thing, if Berra was still class, why have the Old firm not went in for him, seen as he wants to return to Scotland, or is he worse than Danny Wilson another clown Hearts are well rid off, McGowan same applies, next you'll be saying Kitchen is a great player, or Hamilton is a class keeper, these guys are no better than what we got rid off, i thought the idea was to improve the squad, not fill it with player's that are no more than journey men looking for a wage.

I'm not saying he's good enough for celtic but why would he want to go to rangers? You saying they're more appealing than Hearts are? Especially for someone like berra an ex captain who wants to return. Kitchen isn't the best player ever, no. but he's the type of player every team needs.
Not flashy but protects the dedence. Without someone like him we'd conceed even more than we do already. but you have to really understand the game to know that. So I won't hold it against you for thinking he's useless.

Time will tell, watch him up against Scott Brown on Sunday and you will grasp why he is not no use, Brown will bounce him out the park,3 levels above kitchen in my opinion!

Berra will be a good addition knows the leauge knows what it means to play for hearts and has experience he's the type of player we could be doing with at the back beside hughes or soutar.
