Am I alone in feeling that Levin is manipulating things in the boardroom to get Daly the job, rumours are that Davis wanted full say on who plays and Levin should not be involved, I would hate to think this is true. Motherwell win and Daly gets job.

That would make Budge look very week. Don't see that happening.

I agree with calmart, I have never known so many candidates to pull out of race for a job, can't be a coincidence.

Also why are the club revealing the new manager next week? If it truly is out of Hartley, Presley or Daly what changes over he next week? Clearly there isn't an outstanding candidate Budge and co can agree on.

transfer window closes soon and the new man will clearly have no decision on any ins or outs which concerns me. Fair enough Levein identifying players and dealing with contracts but a manager has to have a influence on transfers or it can't work!

So many candidates? McClaren, Freedman and Davies? That's three, two of whom took other jobs and may just have been using us. The club may have agreed on a candidate and are negotiating with his current employers.

Freeman was clear that he wanted the job, I would say 3 folk pulling out for a job they applied for is a lot, can't think of any other clubs I have heard this happening too. Maybe hearts are negiotating with a club for there manager, that's fair enough but if it's daly, pressley or Hartley as expected there is clearly no reason for it. Transfer window closes soon not leaving a new manager much time to assess and recommend what he wants.

{Ed007's Note - You're looking for a coach not a manager, Craig Levein decides who you sign mate.}

Ed that's true but the club say CL doesn't pick the team or tactics so surely the head coach identifies what type of player he needs for his tactics so will have to influence any singings.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think that's how it works at Hearts. CL will have set out a style of play etc for the club to play at every level, it's up to the coach to teach players that system. I'd be surprised if that's not one of the major problems in finding a new coach, most of the guys linked want to be managers and allowed to wheel and deal in the transfer market to put their own stamp on the team.
If a coach or manager went to Levein and said for example that he wanted a new LB and Levein said he didn't think you needed one then there wouldn't be a new LB, simple as that.}

That's how it happens in most businesses. If a manager goes to the owner/ CEO and says I want some new equipment or some new employee and the owner/ CEO says you don't need it, then you don't get it.

So your saying the hearts head coach has no say on signings, tactics and selections? Really?

I can't believe that's the case, Neil Alexander recently wrote that levein was at every training session and in the changing room before during and after games but just wispered away to Neilson, he said he still believed Neilson decided tactics and selection.

I know the head coach won't have final say on signings but he must have a influence, Austin McPhee has clearly influenced the influx of n Ireland players.

{Ed007's Note - OK then. If you don't know what a DOF - especially your own - does there's no point talking about this.}

The managers who pulled up are there own person they don't want to be levin's puppet.
